The Perinatal Period: Leveraging Neuroscience for 2-Gen Impact

Please join us to explore this important topic with Dr. Catherine Monk. This presentation was part of TTAC's annual conference, Promoting 2-Generation Health during Infancy and the Perinatal Period: Synthesizing Clinical, Research, and Policy Perspectives, which explored cutting-edge research on the critical role of perinatal and parental mental health in fostering resilience and social-emotional well-being in infants and young children. The event highlighted four national experts as they presented a two-generation approach synthesizing clinical, research, and policy issues.

Participants of this session were able to:

  • Illustrate and apply the concept that parenting begins before birth as parents' experiences affect fetal brain-behavior development
  • Reconstruct the prenatal period as a time of brain plasticity along with psychological adjustments
  • Demonstrate active consideration of useful enhancements to prenatal care to promote optimal health for future families
