Webinar

Reproductive Loss and the Care of Survivors of Trauma

Please join us to explore this crucial topic presented by the Institute of Reproductive Grief Care.

This webinar fostered recognition of the profound impact of reproductive loss and the grief reactions of individuals with lived experiences of sexual exploitation (SE) or intimate partner violence (IPV), including the role of adverse childhood experiences in shaping reproductive outcomes. Participants will explore key complexities in the grieving process - including the reproductive story, trauma story, and double disenfranchisement - that require specialized, trauma-informed responses. Care professionals were presented with evidence-based communication modalities and practical applications supportive of reproductive bereavement, tailored to the unique needs of those who have been trafficked, sexually exploited, or abused. Participants left equipped with strategies to recognize and address reproductive grief in this underserved population, reducing disenfranchisement and supporting healing.

Participants of this webinar were able to:

  • Describe the impact of reproductive loss in individuals who have experienced sexual exploitation (SE) and intimate partner violence (IPV).
  • Identify at least two complexities that SE/IPV create for reproductive grieving.
  • Explain at least three critical elements of trauma-informed reproductive grief care for individuals with lived SE/IPV experiences

This webinar is for all of those working in the perinatal period as well as children birth to 5 and their families.
