2026 TTAC Annual Conference - Strengthening Families From the Start: Innovations for Young Children and Their Families in the Child Welfare System

Join us for TTAC’s Annual Conference, focused this year on the urgent and often overlooked needs of infants and young children involved in the child welfare system. Young children are disproportionately represented in the child welfare system. These inequities are even more pronounced for Black and brown children, underscoring the urgent need to equip providers with the tools, training, and cultural competency to recognize and meaningfully address the distinct vulnerabilities and needs of this age group.

This conference will bring together clinical, research, and policy perspectives to deepen our collective understanding of emerging solutions. These solutions aim to support families earlier, strengthen community-based prevention, prevent unnecessary system involvement, and reduce harmful attachment disruptions.

Together, we will advance child welfare system reforms that prioritize family preservation, equity, and the well-being of our youngest and most vulnerable children.

Participants will learn:

  • Research insights on developmental risk factors, protective factors, and system trends affecting infants and young children.

  • Clinical approaches  for supporting families, protecting children’s key relationships while preventing child maltreatment, promoting children’s developmental and emotional well-being, and addressing trauma in the earliest years.

  • Policy updates on child welfare system reforms, prevention strategies, and innovations designed to meet families’ needs outside the child welfare system.
