The HealthySteps approach: Early childhood mental health, prevention, and dyadic care in pediatric primary care
This webinar highlighted the non-stigmatized and (almost) universally accessed platform of pediatric primary care, and the importance of considering this system as part of any early childhood mental health care work. Did you know:
- Babies and toddlers attend 12-13 well-child visits in the first three years of life, and seven of those are in the first year of life alone?
- Parents and caregivers routinely list “pediatric primary care provider” as their most trusted source of child development advice, after immediate family members?
- Team-based care is a focus of the American Academy of Pediatrics and can include early childhood mental health providers to provide risk-stratified services for as little as $100 per child/year, with outcomes ranging from increased vaccination rates to decreased obesity?
This webinar reviewed the evidence-based findings of the ZERO TO THREE’S HealthySteps program, which partners with pediatric primary care, and discuss return on investment due to the dyadic approach of the program. Recommendations for partnering with pediatric primary care were reviewed.
