Maternal Depression and Anxiety Disorders
This webinar was specifically designed to address the training needs of staff of the Newborn Home Visiting Program offered through the Maternal and Child Health Unit of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. It covers the criteria for, and characteristics of, major depressive disorders including perinatal depression, and a variety of anxiety disorders with a focus on Generalized Anxiety Disorder. It reviews research on the impact of these disorders on the affected individual and on their infants, children and families. The webinar describes the importance of screening for these disorders and provides guidance on the administration of the PHQ-9 to screen for depression and the GAD-7 to screen for anxiety disorders.
