Trauma, Learning and Social-Emotional Development in the Early Years
This two part presentation summarized salient features from the series and highlighted the impact of trauma on early learning. Risk was counterpointed against protective factors and resilience building experiences. Strategies specific to clinic, home and school that “hold” and heal were presented as both concept and practice. The content presentation was followed by an opportunity for learner participation to apply acquired knowledge through clinical reasoning and problem solving. Prepared case presentations were deconstructed and analyzed in small and whole group discussion. Time was reserved for discussion of questions and case challenges from the field. The morning portion of the training was videotaped and the recording is available below.
